Description
Evolis R5F008S14 YMCKO ribbons are used for printing a combination of full-color images and one-color text or barcodes.
YMCKO ribbons consist of Y (yellow), M (magenta), C (cyan), K (black resin) and O (clear overlay) five panels.
1. Yellow (Y), magenta (M) and cyan (C) panels for printing a full spectrum of colors by combining the colors using varying degrees of heat.
2. The K panel is a black resin panel, typically used for printing text and barcodes.
3. The O panel is a thin, clear protective overlay that is applied over the entire surface of your cards.
You can use Evolis YMCKO ribbon for every single or double-sided colour printing.
In addition to the standard colours (Yellow, Magenta, Cyan and Black), YMCKO ribbons apply a protective varnish onto your cards, to retain a high quality of image despite its frequent use.
This process makes it possible to optimize the quality of printed images and logos with a 300 DPI resolution that guarantees expert presentation.
Printed cards can, therefore, be used for up to 3 years.
Technical features
The color ribbon is polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with thin layer of specialized coating. The concentration of colorant is very low and they are insoluble in water. In the printing process they only diffuse at temperature above 50°C.
Storage recommendations
It is recommended to use this product within one year. Avoid dust, direct sunlight, high humidity and high temperatures. Do not place near solvent or other chemicals.
Evolis R5F008S14 ribbons are specially back-coated to extend printhead life.
Evolis Region Code Management
In order to prepare future changes related to the Evolis logistic organization, Zenius and Primacy printers have a special code which specifies in which regions in the world the associated ribbons can be used.
Evolis divided the planet earth into 3 major zones (AMERICAS, APAC and EMEA) which correspond to its distribution system, and 2 sub-zones in the APAC region, which are China and India.

How to know the use of the right region code?
There are two ways to check the use of the right region code.
Before getting started with the printer
The printer region code is indicated on the ID printer label from the external box. The ribbon region code is indicated in the ribbon part number, on the last three digits. This part number is printed on the ribbon box label as well as on the drop-in cassette label.
The two codes have to be similar as indicated below:

Note:
- The ribbons with a NAA code can be used on all the printer region codes.
- The ribbons with SAA, S11 and S22 codes can be used only with the SAA printer region code
At any time when using the printer
In the Evolis Premium Suite Print Center, in the ‘Ribbon’ tab, the part number and the type of ribbon is indicated. ‘Ribbon not valid’ message means that the region code is not appropriate between the printer and the ribbon.
What happens if the printer and ribbon region codes are not appropriate?
Check the table with countries above and you will see that there are 3 major regions and 2 sub-zones. Region AMERICAS ribbons wont work in Region EMEA, Region EMEA ribbons wont work in Region APAC. In short, the region where the ribbon has been purchased can only be used on printer from that particular region. Please contact an Evolis Reseller from your region to get appropriate ribbons.
